The Table Feature

Evaluate a function at a specific input without substituting by hand.

The Desmos trick

Instead of plugging a value into a function algebraically, define the function in Desmos, open a table, type the input in the x-column, and read the output — Desmos does the arithmetic for you.

  • Define the function first: f(x) = 3x^2 - 2x + 1
  • Click the '+' button and choose 'table', then type your x-value in the first column
  • The matching y-value appears automatically in the second column
